Climate change is one of the most serious global challenges facing humanity today. It refers to long-term shifts in temperature and weather patterns, largely driven by the increasing concentration of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO₂) and methane (CH₄) in the atmosphere. These gases are mainly released through human activities, including the burning of fossil fuels for energy, industrial processes, transportation, and large-scale deforestation.

As greenhouse gas levels rise, more heat is trapped in the Earth’s atmosphere, leading to a gradual increase in global temperatures. This warming has widespread consequences. It contributes to the melting of polar ice caps and glaciers, which in turn causes sea levels to rise and threatens coastal regions. Climate change also leads to more frequent and severe extreme weather events, including heatwaves, heavy rainfall, hurricanes, and prolonged droughts.

The impact of these changes is felt across ecosystems and human societies. Wildlife habitats are being disrupted, biodiversity is declining, and many species are struggling to adapt. At the same time, agriculture, water resources, and human health are increasingly at risk.

Addressing climate change requires coordinated global action. Key solutions include reducing carbon emissions, transitioning to renewable energy sources like solar and wind power, protecting forests through reforestation, and adopting more sustainable lifestyles and technologies. Through collective effort, it is possible to reduce the impacts of climate change and build a more sustainable future.
